It is only relatively recently that i have come to appreciate the Bromeliaceae family. Along with their extraordinary appearance, they seem resistant to almost all pests, and because of their shallow roots, can be planted in places where other plants are reluctant to grow, such as under gum trees.

I have put bromeliads in many different sections of the garden, and also in some old trees, but I have made a special bromeliad section under a tree, modelled on a much large bromeliad garden bed in the Sydney botanic gardens.
